How long have these spas been around? How long will they last?
Softub Inc. has been manufacturing Softub spas since the early 1980's and some of thier first tubs are still in customers’ back yards. This means that you can count on a reliable spa, with a strong company backing it up. There are literally thousands of Softub spas still in operation after decades of service.

back to questions

What are they made of? Are they inflatable?
No, they are not inflatable. They are made of space-age high-density foam (Polybond Foam), developed and patented by Softub.  Our spas are extremely strong and resilient, yet lightweight. This makes a Softub durable and portable. You’ll love the flexible comfort and what's more, you'll be able to easily move your Softub, inside or outside.

back to questions

How well does the vinyl surface hold up outside?
The vinyl is a UV-resistent heavy-duty marine-grade product that is designed to withstand the harshest climates and sun. That means with simple, routine care, you can expect to get many years of service from your Softub spa, whether you keep it indoors or out.

back to questions

How much does it cost to operate?
Softub spas are easy on the pocketbook. The average cost to operate a Softub spa outside, nationwide, is between $6 and $10 per month. That means you won’t see a huge jump in your electric bill, as with those other 220V hard tubs.

back to questions

How does it heat without a heater?
Softub spas are heated utilizing our patented, revolutionary Heat Recovery System, which captures the waste heat created by the pump motor to heat the water. That's right! Not only does the pump circulate the water but it heats it at the same time. This means you will have operating costs that are a fraction of the cost of a hard tub, a reduction in service problems, and an extension of the life of the motor, since our Heat Recovery System also water-cools the motor.  WOW!  How cool is that?

back to questions

How hot does it get?
Our thermostat can be set as high as 106 degrees Fahrenheit, the same as all other hot tubs that are UL or ETL certified. But no matter what temperature you select, your Softub is ready whenever you decide to relax.

How do you treat the water?

We reccommend the SoftCare line of water treatment products and the main ingredient is SoftChlor.  But, because all interior surfaces of a Softub, including the vinyl liner and all plumbing are non-porous, our tubs require only a very minimal amount of chemicals, as compared to traditional hard tubs.

We also offer an optional Ozonator, which makes maintenance as simple as possible.  Our Oronator is a built in a patented, fully automatic, ozone injection system that significantly reduces the amount of chemicals needed to keep your Softub spa clean and sanitary. That means it takes less time - and less money out of your pocket - to keep your Softub spa sparkling clean.

back to questions

How much do they weigh when full of water?
A 220 gallon Softub spa weighs 1,972 pounds, including the HydroMate and lid. You can place your Softub spa on nearly any deck as long as it's built to code. Check with your builder; most new decks can easily support a Softub spa along with all your friends.

back to questions

What kind of preparation is required to install a Softub spa?
The great news is that all you need to install a Softub spa is a level surface and a standard 110v 15 Amp household electric outlet. Unlike hard, acrylic tubs, which required a concrete pad or heavily reinforced platform to support their extreme weight, plus a dedicated 220v 25 Amp electrical outlet.

back to questions

Will I need an electrician or plumber to hook it up?
No. Although almost all acrylic hot tubs do require expensive electrical and plumbing work to install, a Softub spa is designed for any location and does not require any special hookup.  Softubs install on their own.  Just plug into any standard 110v 15 Amp electrical outlet. And, with our SmartChip™, you never have to worry about power surges or brown-outs damaging your Softub spa.
